Personally, I balance strict homework and activities with cheering, fun and empowerment.
The main goal of coaching is to get you on the road to self-discovery and leave you feeling empowered after the session and whilst completing activities or homework.
A usual session with me consists of
1) Recap of week
We will discuss what has happened between sessions, make note of any roadblocks and empower/reward all achievements.
2) Goals
Discuss the reasons behind any roadblocks and set goals to overcome them
3) Techniques
I will teach you various coaching techniques to apply them in life so you don't have to rely on the sessions to feel empowered
4) Activities
I often have different puzzles, exercises and more to provide a more positive experience
5) Recap of session
We will discuss the session in short and I will explain your homework if you have any [all of this will most likely be sent to your email]. Additionally we can give eachother feedback via the feedback sandwich technique.
I believe this is the most effective way of coaching clients. Increasing speed and decreasing dependence on the coach.
