One of the easiest and most effective ways of developing a more positive mindset is through gratitude.
I have an exercise for you, take a book and write a letter. Your letter is going to be addressed to someone who you do not appreciate or show gratitude towards enough. Your letter should be between 300-500 words.
When we talk about what we have that we are grateful for, we move away from this notion of wanting this item or that wage, being stuck with this situation and that coworker, into a state of appreciation that we have this thing and that guy in our lives.
There are plenty of ways to go about it but my favourite is definitely when I wake up I think of
5 things I have that I'm glad I have
5 things I don't have that I'm glad I don't have
5 people who I appreciate
5 people who appreciate me
Each question creates a different response, appreciation of what you have, recognition of things other's suffering, people in your life who are good to you, and recognising the good you do for others.
