What's the worst that could happen? - Something people tell us, or we tell ourselves when trying to convince us to do something.
This question, to me is kind of negative. Why would this motivate you to do something if you're thinking about the worst thing that could happen as a result. I often teach clients a better way of saying this is what's the best that could happen? and approach this way.
I prefer the Do/Don't Will/Won't method [Catchy, I know!]
The exercise goes like this
Draw a grid
Will Won't
Do What will happen if I do What won't happen if I do
Don't What will happen if I don't What won't happen if I don't
This method can be helpful in a number of scenarios such as deciding your future, controlling habits or limiting minor compulsive behaviours.
I would suggest integrating this when you're stuck because it can give you a clearer mindset when you want to be objective and discuss pros and cons and make a decision or if you're just looking to get out of bad habits.
This is the kind of thing I can help you with, so if you want help figuring it all out then check out my offers, I have a free session going at the minute woohoo!
